after hearing a version of it by Ben Kweller on the radio yesterday.  Ben’s singing and guitar picking is lovely and true to the Hebrew hymn. I appreciate that, most Christians don’t seem to know that it’s a Channukah song– מעוז צור‎ (Maoz Tzur).

Listen to Ben’s version here:

It speaks of shelter. It speaks to me.

Rock of ages let our song
praise your saving power.
Amid raging foes, you
are our sheltering tower.
Furiously, they assail us,
but your arm veils us.
And your word breaks their sword
when our own strength fails us.
